Developments in Fundamental Research Towards Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions From Energy Systems

GCEP held its second energy research symposium featuring well-known speakers and leading researchers from Stanford and around the world. The three-day event provided a forum for the discussion of scientific results and developments that may lead to energy technologies with significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Both GCEP-funded and outside investigators gave presentations highlighting the results of their innovative research. Several poster sessions allowed GCEP investigators and their graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to provide details of their work.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Steve Chu, Director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and 1997 winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics.  His keynote address, "The Energy Problem, Our Current Choices and Future Prospects," set the stage for the symposium by providing background perspective for the conference's technical reports.

Over 400 people attended this event which was held at the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center at Stanford University.
