Community Outreach

The Health Improvement Program (HIP)’s mission includes educating the Stanford community - and beyond - as to what it means to engage in a healthy lifestyle. We also help people translate knowledge about health into practice.

The Stanford Health Promotion Network (SHPN) is an association of employers, health plans, medical care providers, and local government officials who aim to improve employee health and productivity through focused health promotion initiatives and strategies.

Living Strong Living Well fulfills an important need of the increasing number of cancer survivors who find themselves in that transitional period between completing their cancer treatment and the shift to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to return to their normal life. The fact that the program is outside a medical facility and integrated into the community serves to emphasize that Living Strong Living Well is about health, not about disease.

In addition, our community outreach efforts provide networking and collaboration opportunities for health care professionals. HIP also supports communities’ efforts to engage in healthy living through an alliance with national organizations such as the YMCA.
