Masters of Public Health Programs
Getting a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree is a great way to expand your understanding of international health challenges. Schools of public health across the country offer public health programs with an international health focus, and physicians and medical students can generally complete the degree requirements within one year.

Students enrolled in Stanford's Scholarly Concentration in Community Health may pursue a MPH at the University of California, Berkeley through a unique Dual Degree Program.
The UCB Master of Public Health Program allows students to pursue specialization in International Health within the one-year MPH Program. The Specialty Area in International Health requires an expanded courseload that includes the International Health Core Course in the spring semester as well as an increased number of required units for graduation. To fulfill this requirement, students have enrolled in public health courses related to international health, including:
- Health and Human Rights
- Epidemiologic Methods in Developing Countries
- International Human Rights Law (by special arrangement with the Law School)
- International Maternal and Child Health
Previous Stanford medical students who completed the International Specialty recommend taking the Biostatistics course placement exam (to place out of the requirement) or taking the course during the early summer session.
