Accepting Applications

The Europe Center is sponsoring undergraduate internships with leading Belgium-based European think-tank and transnational organizations in the summer of 2017.

BELGIUM-BASED INTERNSHIPS

  • The Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), a policy think-tank providing research and activities on economic and international policy matters and LICOS, a research institute that focuses on institutional change and economic performance:  1 position, 6 consecutive weeks between June 19 and September 15 (start and end dates to be determined by the host and student). OPEN -- ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS on a rolling basis. Deadline April 15, 2017.
  • The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), a transnational political party of the European Parliament:  2 positions, from June 12 to July 21. CLOSED
  • Bruegel, a think-tank devoted to policy research on international economic issues:  3 positions, from July 31 to September 8. CLOSED
  • Carnegie Europe, an independent policy research center providing foreign policy analysis and policy recommendations on the strategic issues facing Europe and its role in the world: 1 position, 9 consecutive weeks, with some flexibility to adjust this to work with the intern's summer schedule, between June 19 and September 15 (start and end dates to be determined by the host and student). CLOSED

Grants of $6,000 to $8,000 will be awarded by the Europe Center along with each internship to cover the cost of travel and basic living expenses. Interns will be required to submit a one-page report of their experience two weeks after their return and post weekly to the Global Student Fellows Blog.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must currently be an enrolled undergraduate at Stanford and in good standing.
  • The applicant cannot have his/her undergraduate degree conferred before the completion of this internship. In other words, graduating seniors are ineligible. The exception to this is the coterminal student.
  • Seniors who will be returning to coterm for all of next year are eligible to apply.

Application Process

  • Application Period Opens:  Monday, January 9, 2017.
  • Application Deadline: Tuesday, February 7, 2017. (APPLICATIONS for the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS)/LICOS Internship are being reviewed as received. Deadline: April 15, 2017.)

Applicants must submit a completed online application form including a resume and unofficial transcript of Stanford courses.

Selection Process

  • Students selected for interviews will be notified by February 27th.
  • Interviews will be conducted by March 10th.
