STANFORD, Calif. - The 17th-ranked Cardinal continues its home slate this week as it sets to host William & Mary on Wednesday at 7 p.m. followed by a 1 p.m. match-up against UConn on Saturday at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.

Last week, Stanford (4-2) faced Michigan for the first time in program history and emerged with a 15-10 win over the Wolverines with three Cardinal tossing hats in the ring for three goals each.

The Tribe Has Spoken:
William & Mary enters Wednesday's game with a 1-4 record after losses to Maryland, George Mason, Davidson and Virginia with it's sole win coming against Winthrop.

The Tribe is led by senior midfielder Lindsay Jenks with 10 goals and give assists on the season as well as 11 draw controls.

Wednesday's game marks the third time the Cardinal and Tribe have met with the record at 1-1. The last meeting for the two was in 2009 that the Cardinal won 18-9.

The Cardinal connection with the Tribe continues though as Head Coach Amy Bokker was a two-time All-CAA first-team choice at William and Mary, where she also played field hockey. She was also named a BRINE/IWLCA All-American her senior season.

Huskies on the Farm:
UConn travels to Stanford this week holding a 2-3 record with losses to the Cardinal's NCAA First Round opponent last year JMU, Boston College and UMass. Fairfield and UNH are the sole wins for the Huskies this season.

All-time against UConn the Cardinal is 1-2, though both teams have gone a decade without dancing with each other. The last meeting in 2007 resulted in a 16-10 win for the Huskies.

Offense May Win Games, but Defense...

The Cardinal has taken pride in its defensive prowess in its program history, but this year it has a daunting task in replacing two All-Americans on defense in Adrienne Anderson and Meg Lentz. The duo combined last year with senior Alexa Mullins sending three new faces into defense in 2017. Freshmen Kyra Pelton and Mikaela Watson have filled that hole with junior Cameron Park

Currently on the year the Cardinal is 27th in the NCAA in scoring defense.

Treat Your Elders With Respect:
The Cardinal is well aware of the adage after the return of Anna Salemo - the oldest MPSF Rookie of the Year. Salemo returned to Stanford lacrosse after a four-year break, including coaching the Mountain View High School girls varsity lacrosse team. In her first season back? She finished ranked  3rd in game-winning goals, 7th in the MPSF in goals,  9th in points and 10th in goals per game on the team. Bottom line? The southpaw isn't one you should ever take your eye off of...
