STANFORD, Calif. – Hayley Hodson, a sophomore on the women's volleyball team, has medically retired from the sport.

A Newport Beach, California, native, Hodson intends to remain a student at Stanford as she pursues an undergraduate degree.

"Hayley is part of our Stanford Athletics family, and we wish her all the best in the continuing pursuit of her Stanford degree," said Jaquish & Kenniger Director of Athletics Bernard Muir.

The 2015 AVCA National Freshman of the Year, Hodson played in 35 career matches for the Cardinal. She earned All-America honors and was a five-time Pac-12 Freshman of the Week. She averaged 3.82 kills, 0.34 aces and 4.52 points per set as a freshman, ranking in the top 10 in the conference in each category. She appeared in six matches as a sophomore before missing the remainder of the season due to injury.
