In his 2014 State of the Union address,
the President said he wanted 2014 to be a
breakthrough year for America.
2014 saw our economy growing at a record pace,
an auto industry in high gear,
and real action on immigration and climate change.
2014 was a year of action.
So let’s take stock of where we’ve been
before we look toward where we’re going.
America has added 10.9 million jobs
over the past 57 months in a row,
extending the longest streak of private-sector job growth on record.
In the first 11 months of 2014, businesses have already added 2.65 million jobs, making 2014 the strongest year for job growth since the 1990s.
Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, about 10 million Americans gained health insurance — and the uninsured rate hit a near-record low.
“These are real issues. And we have to lift them up and not deny them or try to tamp them down. What we need to do is to understand them and figure out how do we make more progress. And that can be done.”
President Obama, November 24

to checking Russia’s aggression in Ukraine…
and charting a new course in Cuba
after more than 50 years
of a failing policy.
The President brought a responsible end
to America’s longest war in Afghanistan.
President Obama became
the first President to write a line of code.

to the nearby Interior Department
and talked with folks on the way.

prevent domestic violence and sexual assault
on college campuses.
America’s high school graduation rate is the highest it's ever been, and more students are earning post-secondary degrees than ever before.

and businesses to lift their minimum wages.
And millions of hardworking Americans will get a raise.

It was the first time a We the People petition prompted legislation.
The President took to Tumblr to respond to people's questions about education.
The President has committed to ending veteran homelessness — and in 2014, veteran homelessness hit an all-time low.
And the President made it easier for women
to take control of negotiations about their pay.

Interesting stuff happens in the fourth quarter.”
