New users can watch a 20-minute EasyRSEI Video Tutorial.

Download EasyRSEI

EasyRSEI is a form-based, easy-to-use application that contains preformatted RSEI results from Version 2.3.3 to browse through, and also contains custom query functionality so that users can select and export RSEI results for specific facilities, locations, chemicals and years. You do not need to know how to use Access to use EasyRSEI.

You may separately download the supporting information, including Methodology, Toxicity Spreadsheet, and Technical Appendices.

Users should also review the appropriate uses of RSEI.

System requirements:

  • Approximately 4 GB of free hard disk space
  • At least 2 GB of RAM

For more information on installing EasyRSEI, watch this short EasyRSEI Installation Video.

If you do not have administrative rights on your computer, but you have MS Access 2010 or MS Access 2013 installed, use this link:

     Installation Instructions

  • Click on the link above to download the zipped file.
  • Unzip the files to a local drive (not a network drive). Windows will allow you to open a file without unzipping it, but that will not allow EasyRSEI to work. You must click "Unzip" in the Winzip interface. Make sure that you have the "All files" option selected. Note that your Winzip applcation may look different than the screen below.

  • Whatever folder you select as your location in Winzip, the unzip will create the folder \easyrsei in that location, and place the files in the easyrsei folder.
  • Right-click on the file "EasyRSEI.accde" in the easyrsei folder and select "Create Shortcut." This will create a shortcut in that folder to open EasyRSEI. Copy the shortcut and paste it onto your desktop. Double-click on the icon on your desktop for easy access to the application.

Note: The above link works for 32-bit versions of MS Access only. If you have a 64-bit version of MS Access installed on your computer, use this link: EasyRSEI-64 bit, Version 2.3.3(1 pg, 477 MB)

If you do have administrative rights to install a program on your computer, use the link below. You do not need to have MS Access installed on your computer. If you do not have a compatible version of Access, the Setup program will install a version of MS Access Runtime, which will allow EasyRSEI to run. This setup will work for both 32-bit and 64-bit computers.

RSEI Queries

The RSEI Queries database is a small access database containing sample queries that allow users to extract data directly from the RSEI tables, which are distributed in separate relational database. Users must have MS Access 2007, 2010 or 2013, at least 2 GB RAM and at least 4 GB of hard drive space. RSEI Queries is for users already familiar with RSEI and Access, who have specific data needs that are not met with EasyRSEI, and who know generally which datasets they want. Click the link below to download a zipped file containing both databases and a help function with additional information on how to access the data.

Census files

The RSEI model uses decennial U.S. Census Data for 1990, 2000, and 2010 to create annual estimates of detailed population data, including age-sex information, for each grid cell for each year. These data, although used in creating RSEI scores, are not required for using EasyRSEI or RSEI Queries and are not included in those databases. However, they are available for download below as Microsoft Access files (in zipped format).

More information on how the census files are created is contained in the RSEI Methodology document.
