Dr. Leng has an active program in imaging informatics and deep learning to perform big data analyses of retinal scans to identify patients who are at risk for retinal disease deterioration, with the end goal of earlier detection and rapid treatment to maximize visual outcomes; and is considered a leading expert optical coherence tomography (OCT), a non-invasive and non-contact imaging technique for the retina.

The Kaltschmidt lab’s goal is to understand the molecular basis of neuronal circuit formation. They are particularly interested in circuits that underlie locomotion, sexual function and gut motility.

Dr. Skiniotis is a structural biologist with expertise in electron cryo-microscopy (cryoEM) whose main interests are on the mechanisms of transmembrane signal instigation with a particular focus on G protein-coupled receptors and cytokine receptors.

The Myung Research Group is a translational laboratory focused on two areas of clinical need: ophthalmic regenerative medicine through tissue engineering and drug delivery; and global health through mobile technologies and telemedicine.

The Zuchero Lab aims to uncover how glial cells regulate neural development and how their dysfunction contributes to diseases like multiple sclerosis (MS) and in injuries like stroke.

The overarching aim of the Etkin lab is to understand the neural basis of emotional disorders and their treatment, and to leverage this knowledge to develop novel treatment interventions.
