Bio
Michael Hsieh is a CFR-Hiatchi Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. His broad interest is in joint technology innovation activities as a means of strengthening US security partnerships globally. Previously, he was a program manager at DARPA, where he led multiple programs in secure data, secure computation and data analytics at scale. He has held senior technical positions at Science Applications International Corporation and Booz Allen Hamilton, where he supported a variety of projects at DARPA and IARPA.
He received a Ph.D. in chemistry from Princeton University, where he was an NDSEG Fellow. His doctoral research was on the applications of geometry and topology to the control of quantum systems. He received a dual B.A. in economics and mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a minor certificate in business administration at the Haas School of Business. He is a recipient of the Office of Secretary Defense Award for Outstanding Achievement.
