Bio

Warren F. "Pete" Miller, Jr. is presently a private consultant and part time TEES Professor at Texas A & M University.  In April 2012, he became an affiliate of CISAC. He recently served as Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy, nominated by President Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2009. Prior to federal service Dr. Miller served as Associate Director of the Nuclear Security Science and Policy Institute at Texas A & M University as well as TEES Professor. Dr. Miller retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory in 2001, where he served for 27 years as a computation physics researcher and senior administrator.

He holds a BS from the United States Military Academy at West Point; is a Viet Nam veteran; and holds a PhD in Engineering Sciences from Northwestern University.  Concurrent with his Los Alamos career, he served on numerous national committees and held appointments at various Universities, including the University of Michigan and the University of California, Berkeley. He was elected a Fellow of the American Nuclear Society in 1982 and was elected to membership in the National Academy of Engineering in 1996.  Among his many publications, he is coauthor of the text book, Computational Methods of Neutron Transport.
