Science and Engineering Education Fellows
The Computer Science Department at Stanford University is seeking applications for a Lecturer in Computer Science to teach and help fashion a design studio education for human-computer interaction (HCI) students at Stanford. We prefer, but don’t require, candidates that hold a Master's degree or higher in HCI, Computer Science, or a related field. The Lecturer will join as a member of a cohort of Science and Engineering Education Fellows that seek to improve education at Stanford, and will be provided with training and opportunities to teach both core and elective courses in HCI.
The candidate's primary responsibility is the teaching of undergraduate courses (typically four courses during the three quarters of the regular academic year, or a 1-1-2 schedule). Specifically, the Fellow will typically help design and lead several studios or one large course each quarter. The Fellow's role will vary by class but may include: designing the HCI curriculum in Computer Science in collaboration with the HCI faculty, evolving and transitioning courses into a design studio atmosphere, mentoring students, working with TAs (CAs) to give feedback to student teams, lecturing, grading, and developing new courses. Additionally, candidates will also provide undergraduate student advising. Applicants should have a strong commitment to and demonstrated aptitude for excellent teaching.
The Fellow will be appointed as a Lecturer of Computer Science for three years and will join Stanford's Lecturer cohort of career Computer Science educators. The appointment begins August 1, 2017 (negotiable). An appointment as a Lecturer is a full-time, non-tenure line position. Lecturers are designed to be career-oriented positions, and the position may be renewable in subsequent years.

The Department of Computer Science at Stanford University invites applications for a Lecturer position. The appointment will be made at the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level, depending upon the candidate's seniority and experience. An appointment as a Lecturer is a full-time, non-tenure line position that is renewable in subsequent years and, depending on performance, may lead to promotion to Senior Lecturer. An appointment as a Senior Lecturer is a full-time position with an initial term appointment (up to 5 years) and would then be considered for a continuing appointment, which provides security of appointment without requiring further formal reappointment.
The candidate's primary responsibility is the teaching of undergraduate courses (typically four courses during the three quarters of the regular academic year, or a 1-1-2 schedule). Additionally, candidates will also provide undergraduate student advising. Applicants should have a strong commitment to and demonstrated aptitude for excellent teaching.
