Academics

The School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences is home to four departments and two interdisciplinary programs, offering a range of graduate and undergraduate degrees. To find out more, visit the departments and program sites below, or browse our undergraduate and graduate offerings.

The School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences is committed to educating a new generation of scholars who will reflect the diversity of intellectual perspectives, life experiences, and cultural backgrounds represented in society today. We offer disciplinary study in the Departments of Energy Resources Engineering, Earth System Science, Geological Sciences, and Geophysics, and interdisciplinary study in the undergraduate Earth Systems Program and the Emmett Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources (E-IPER) for graduate students.

Undergraduate Programs

Any undergraduate student admitted to Stanford may declare a major in one of the School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences departments or the interdisciplinary Earth Systems Program by contacting the appropriate department or program office.

Graduate Programs

Students who wish to enroll for graduate work in the School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences must be qualified for graduate standing in the university and must be accepted by one of the school's four departments or E-IPER. We encourage you to explore our departments and programs, and to contact individual faculty in your areas of interest.
