Gabrielle Karampelas

Director, Communications and Development

(650) 497-4414

As the Director of Communications and Development, I oversee the Libraries fund development programs and communications activities. This includes developing strategies that promote, enhance, and protect the Libraries' brand reputation, as well as managing the planning and implementation of the Libraries' various fundraising initiatives.

My office manages and works closely with library staff to facilitate planned gifts, gifts in-kind and the stewardship of endowed funds. Additionally, the expansion of philanthropic support from individuals, foundations, and corporations to the Libraries is included in my responsibilities.  I also serve as the Libraries Public Relations Officer, which involves the development, integration and implementation of public relations plans that support the strategic direction and position of the organization, its leadership and staff, as well as innovative projects produced by the Libraries.

I also head the Libraries’ social media efforts and Online Experience Group with the intent of creating an engaging online communications ecosystem that showcases the rarities within our collection, informs supporters about latest developments and connects users to the Libraries with ease and delight.
