Certificate of Completion

Stanford University issues a Certificate of Completion for postdoctoral scholars at the end of their appointment, documenting the period of time for which a postdoc was appointed though the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at Stanford University.

The Certificate is an official University document that bears the name of the department, signatures, and the University seal.  Applicable Division names for clinical departments at the School of Medicine may be included, but specific fellowships or subspecialties can not be printed on the Certificate.

Certificates are not issued for any periods of time where the trainee/scholar was appointed through a different office (e.g. the Graduate Medical Education office at Stanford Hospital and Clinics or HHMI) or held a different status at Stanford (e.g. Visiting Scholar, Visiting Student, Visiting Postdoc, or staff).

Certificates are produced on a quarterly basis following the submission of a notice of termination to the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.  Printed certificates are sent to department administrators to secure faculty signatures and are then mailed to the postdoctoral scholar.
