Peter Achtziger-Zupančič

BioPeter Achtziger-Zupančič received his Diploma of Engineering in Hydrogeology (MSc equivalent) from TU Berlin (Germany) in 2010 and worked in the execution and design of hydraulic, hydro-mechanical, pneumatic and tracer experiments in radioactive disposal research in Switzerland, France and Germany (2008-2012). From 2012-2017 he worked as a research assistant and post-doctoral researcher at ETH Zurich (Switzerland). In his PhD research he analyzed large hydraulical data sets on a local to global scale to gain insights in controlling factors of the distribution of hydrogeological parameters in crystalline rock in the upper 2000 m of the Earth's crust. In 2017 he joined SCERF group to explore new methods to assess and visualize uncertainty in mining. Research in hard rock hydrogeology, hydro-mechanics, radioactive disposal remain of interest.

In particular, he works to explore relationships between climate variability and violent conflict, and hopes to better identify some of the mechanisms that may link these phenomena.

Anshul Agarwal

BioAnshul received her B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India, in 2003. She received her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University in 2009. The title of her thesis was "Adaptive Implicit Method for Thermal-Compositional Reservoir Simulation". She worked at ExxonMobil Upstream Research in Houston as a Sr. Research Engineer, before joining as a Research Associate in the ERE department. She is also the Executive Director of the Stanford Center for Carbon Storage. Her current research deals with the numerical simulation analysis of leakage risk and mitigation for CO2 sequestration operations. Additionally, she is a member of the Supri A research group where she is studying steam injection in diatomite.

Aakash Ahamed

BioI am interested in scientific methods for satellite and airborne remote sensing applications in water resources, disaster response and agriculture. Before coming to Stanford, I worked as a support scientist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and as a Remote Sensing analyst at a successful Silicon Valley start up. I hold a M.Sc. from Boston College (full scholarship) and a B.S. (with honors) from Franklin & Marshall College.
