TomKat / StartX Prize in Energy Innovation

Make a plan and make a pitch……

This competition is open to Stanford undergraduates from all majors who are interested in entrepreneurship as well as passionate about sustainability and making a difference.

Spend your summer advancing your idea……

If you have a business or product innovation in sustainable energy, food, water, or the environment, you and your team (up to 4 currently registered Stanford undergraduates) can spend 8 weeks next summer as TomKat Innovation Fellows at StartX refining and advancing your concept.

What the winning team receives……

In addition to the fantastic mentorship and resources available at StartX the winning team will be eligible to receive up to $5,000 of support for expenses.  Also, individual team members (up to a maximum of 4 students) that commit their summer (fulltime for at least 8 weeks) to working on their innovation and StartX will each receive a $6,400 stipend.

Read a first-hand account of how the TomKat/StartX Prize allowed two Stanford students the valuable time, space, and mentorship needed to reconceptualize their product and business plan.

How to apply……

Applications for 2017 are now closed.

The winning team will be notified in spring quarter.

Interested students should contact Danica Sarlya (dsarlya@stanford.edu) or Brian Bartholomeusz (brianjb@stanford.edu) at the TomKat Center as early as possible to confirm that their idea fits within the program's criteria.  Drop-in info hours will also be available if you have any questions or if you need any assistance in developing and refining your proposals. Email dsarlya@stanford.edu for availability.
