25 August 2017: Hasan DeMirci and his collaborators at Kumamoto University (Japan) have recently published a paper discussing a potential approach to eradicate human immunodeficiency virus from the body through a proposed cellular "lock-in and apoptosis" strategy.

22 August 2017: Todd Martinez will be the lead principal investigator for a new Center for First Principles Design of Quantum Processes. This is a newly-established (Phase 1) NSF Center for Chemical Innovation and is only one of four such grants awarded by the NSF this year.

04 August 2017: Prof. Phil Bucksbaum, director of the PULSE Institute, was recently elected to the leadership of the American Physical Society, where he will join the APS presidential line.
When his term begins in 2018, he will serve as Vice President, President-elect in 2019, and President in 2020. Congratulations, Phil!

29 July 2017: Aaron Lindenberg is the senior author on a new paper, "light-induced picosecond rotational disordering of the inorganic sublattice in hybrid perovskites," published in Science Advances and covered in SLAC News.
12 July 2017: Claudiu Stan, Ray Sierra, and former PULSE researchers Michael Bogan; Hartawan Laksmono; Duane Loh; Jonas Sellberg; and Anders Nilsson are collaborators on a new paper entltied, "How Cubic Can Ice Be?" published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters. The work is a collaboration that includes researchers from Ohio State University, LCLS, and SSRL and has been outlined in a news article at Ohio State University.
