Energy Answers Arecibo, LLC/Energy Answers Arecibo |
A new resource recovery facility capable of generating 77 MW. The facility includes two identical municipal solid waste combustors (i.e., spreader-stoker boilers), a steam turbine-electrical-generator, ash handling system, emergency diesel-generator and fire pump, a “four-cell” cooling tower, and carbon and lime storage silos. The two combustors will be fueled, primarily, by 2,106 tons per day of refuse-derived municipal solid waste. The combustors’ supplementary fuels (used to substitute for a portion of refuse-derived fuel) comprise of auto-shredder residue, tire-derived fuel, and processed urban wood waste. |
