Travel resources, procedures, and policies for Stanford faculty
International Travel
- Consult Global Business Services for guidance on international travel, complying with individual tax obligations and to ensure University compliance with tax and regulatory reporting requirements. Contacting GBS is highly recommended if traveling to the same country for over 90 days in a year.
- Acquire required travel documents. Visit the Office of International Affairs web site for guidance, including a travel checklist
- Follow International Travel Policy issued by the Provost
- Register your trip on the Office of International Affairs travel registration web page
- If travel is funded with government monies (grants or contracts), ensure compliance with the Fly America Act and Open Skies Exceptions (air carrier requirements)
- If travel includes stay in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, or Crimea region of Ukraine, travel plans must be reviewed by the University Export Control Officer
- Consult the International Travel Assistance Program
- Consult passport and visa services (if needed)
