EERI is pleased to announce the recipients of the Institute’s highest awards, to be presented at the 2012 EERI Annual Meeting and National Earthquake Conference (NEC) in Memphis, Tennessee, April 11-13.
The 2012 George W. Housner Medal, EERI's highest honor, will be awarded to Helmut Krawinkler, professor emeritus at Stanford University. The award is in recognition of his extraordinary and lasting contributions to earthquake safety through developing and implementing performance-based earthquake engineering methods and concepts that have fundamentally changed the approach to evaluating seismic safety and damage potential in the built environment.
