Parking permits for the 2020-21 academic year are  available for commuters and residents needing to park on the main campus or at Stanford Redwood City. Before you park at either campus as of Sept. 1, please be sure to purchase your parking permit as needed in the online ordering system to avoid a citation.

How do I know if I need to purchase my parking permit?

  • Almost all permits that were active prior to shelter-in-place were adjusted to expire on June 30, 2020. (Learn how this may have affected you and why it was done.) Unless you purchased a permit after June 21, 2020, you should not have an active permit.
  • Stanford's virtual parking permit system allows customers to purchase permits with an expiration date far into the future. However, if you purchased a permit after June 21, 2020, and selected an expiration date to coincide with the end of the fiscal year, your permit may have expired or may be expiring as of Aug. 31, 2020.
  • If you would like to check the status of your permit, please select “Permits” under “My Account” in our virtual permit system. There you can view your active permit(s). For step-by-step instructions, visit our “How To Check the Status of Your Permit” guide.

What resources are available to help me plan my commute?

Your commute is your personal choice and Stanford commuters are encouraged to assess and select the option(s) that best meet their needs.

Your commute options are likely to be determined by several factors, including the timing of your return to campus, transit operations and schedules, individual levels of comfort, and assessment of the time, cost, perceived safety, and access to different modes. We have developed a COVID-19 featured topics page with regular updates about our programs and services to help inform your decision.
