Stanford Powwow Quarantine Specials

With the cancellation of our physical powwow, the Stanford Powwow Committee decided to host three virtual specials. We decided to make this have the true Powwow feel as if you were actually there by involving our head staff we would have had for the 49th Annual Stanford Powwow and compile them, along with our special winners, into a Virtual Stanford Powwow Video!

We hosted a Jingle Dress Special to honor our Head Woman, Farica Prince,  a Boot & Hat Special to honor our Head Man, Osceola Red Shirt, and a Men's Fancy Dance Special. Participants submitted their videos of them dancing to the songs provided from our Northern Host Drum, Young Spirit. To keep the “student run” aspect of Stanford Powwow, we had a group of students judge these videos to get our winners.

Stanford Powwow Fitness Challenge

In place of our annual Fun Run and Walk, we have created the Stanford Powwow Fitness Challenge! Instead of one race, the Stanford Powwow Fitness Challenge is designed to encourage everyone to safely remain active during the COVID-19 pandemic, have fun and achieve a fitness goal by running or walking everyday! Our initial plan for the 49th Annual Stanford Powwow was to have an underlying theme of health and wellness, so we made sure to carry this over in our Virtual Powwow.

Run whenever, walk wherever between Monday, 5/25 and Friday, 5/29!

*Overall female and male runners and walkers, in each of the 7 age categories, with the highest total mileage completed will receive a limited edition 49th Annual Stanford Powwow shirt that will not be available to the public!*
