Stanford @ SEA

Hopkins collaborates with the Sea Education Association to provide Stanford undergraduates with an exciting learning opportunity aboard a tall ship. Students spend five weeks at Hopkins learning about marine biology and oceanography and acquiring the skills needed to navigate and sail the ship. Then it is off to the South Pacific for a five-week cruise of exploration and research.

Research Diving Certification

Twice a year -- during Spring Break and just after Spring Quarter -- Hopkins' diving safety officer offers a course in scientific diving. Open to Stanford students who already have their basic diving certificate, the course teaches students the techniques needed to conduct research underwater.

Stanford's Biology Department

Although Hopkins welcomes students from all majors, our academic program is part of the Biology Department on Stanford's main campus in Palo Alto. Interactions between main campus and the marine station provide for shared resources and productive collaborations.

Monterey Bay Aquarium

Since 1984, the Monterey Bay Aquarium has educated the public about the ocean world. Neighbors on the bay, Hopkins and MBA collaborate on a variety of programs, in particular through the shared Tuna Research and Conservation Center.
