Open Your Credit-Bearing Course to Remote Students

Stanford CS234: Reinforcement Learning - CS234 is a part of the Artificial Intelligence Graduate Certificate.

Find out if your course might be a good fit for extended education.

SCPD currently supports over 200 Stanford graduate and undergraduate courses delivered to students around the world. These are the same courses offered to on-campus students that we help faculty extend to remote learners.

Extending credit-bearing courses to a remote audience offers many benefits to students, faculty, departments, and the university including:

  • Flexibility and increased accessibility
  • Deeper connections between faculty and industry
  • Informed teaching and research through diverse learner engagement
  • Revenue to participating faculty and departments

Non-Degree Option

The non-degree option makes it possible for qualified working professionals to enroll in Stanford credit-bearing classes on a course-by-course basis. Students can apply to take courses individually, work toward a graduate certificate with eligible courses, or take up to 18 graduate course units to count toward a Master's degree (if the student applies and is admitted to the MS program).

For credit-bearing courses and programs, students must apply and be accepted by your department to be eligible, and students earn university credit for courses successfully completed. SCPD works with department administrators to support the student-approval process.

Graduate Certificates

Most courses offered remotely fit into one of the over 30 graduate certificate programs offered through SCPD. Graduate certificates provide advanced learning in key areas and are specially designed for working professionals. Courses contributing to graduate certificates are available online during the academic quarters they are held on campus.

Engage with Us

Our program managers can help you determine if your credit-bearing course might fit an existing certificate program or fulfill an industry need. If you have a series of graduate courses you'd like to suggest for a graduate certificate, our team can work with you to determine the level of industry interest and market potential in the subject area. Our operators help make it relatively easy to open your class up to remote students.
