We raise the quality and visibility of scholarship on contemporary Southeast Asia by providing opportunities for academics and other professional analysts to refine and advance their research and writing on significant policy-relevant conditions, challenges, and prospects in specific Southeast Asian countries, region-wide, or beyond.

Awarded each year jointly with the National University of Singapore to one or two candidates researching contemporary Southeast Asia.
