PhD Application Timeline & Deadlines

All components of a graduate application must be received by the department no later than the appropriate deadline.

A complete application consists of a completed application form, a statement of purpose (a summary of research experience for PhD applications), the application fee, three letters of recommendation, and TOEFL examination results (scores and percentages) if applicable.

The PhD application season is late-September through mid-December each year. The application is open.

ADMISSION DEADLINE: All components of a PhD application must be received by December 1, 2021.

All applications completed and received by this date will receive full consideration. Decisions for applications are NOT made on a rolling basis.

Components of a Completed PhD Application

  • Bio-demographic information, educational history and TOEFL test results if applicable (official and self-reported scores and percentages).
  • Statement of Purpose (no more than 2 pages).
  • Summary outline of your research experience, professional experience, and relevant employment
  • Three letters of recommendation preferably from faculty and, for PhD applicants, from research advisors, who can discuss most knowledgeably the applicant's suitability for pursuit of the selected degree.
