Stanford's fall sports venues will welcome full capacities for ticketed events beginning August 14. Up-to-date information regarding COVID-19 attendance policies will be sent out via email, posted on this page and shared through Stanford Athletics social media channels.

Attendance Policy Update (Sept. 28)

Stanford's fall sports venues will welcome full capacities for ticketed events. Beginning Sept. 20, spectators at events taking place in Maples Pavilion or Stanford Stadium will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or LAMP) taken within 72 hours of the event's start time. Fans under the age of 12 will not be required to provide proof of vaccination or testing.

Fans at Stanford Stadium will have two options to prove their vaccination or negative test. Early verification tents will be open five hours prior to kickoff until two hours prior to kickoff, and fans who visit early verification tents will be given a wristband to enter gates through an express lane. A map of tent locations can be found here. Fans who do not visit the early verification tents will need to provide their proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test at the entrance gates. All fans at Stanford Stadium are strongly encouraged to wear masks during the event.

At Maples Pavilion, fans 12 and older will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test at entry gates, immediately prior to scanning their tickets.

Event attendees at other Stanford Athletics venues will be asked to complete a COVID-19 self attestation by scanning their ticket upon entering the facility. In doing so, spectators will attest that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have received a negative result on a COVID-19 test (PCR or LAMP) within 72 hours of the event date, and are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or have not had close contact with any individual who has tested positive in the past 14 days. Fans at outdoor facilities will be encouraged but not required to wear masks while inside the venue. Fans at indoor facilities will be required to wear masks unless actively eating or drinking.

Should event(s) be canceled or venue capacity limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, fans will have four options to reconcile their payments, based on Stanford's 100% Assured policy. More information can be found at GoStanford.com/Assured.

FAQs

Beginning September 20, proof of vaccination or a negative PCR or LAMP COVID test taken within 72 hours of the event start time is required for entry to ticketed events in Stanford Stadium and Maples Pavilion. Sports that currently fall under this protocol include football, men's basketball, women's basketball and women's volleyball.

At this time, proof of vaccination or negative test is not required for any other fall or winter sport.

Per the California Department of Public Health ("CDPH") requirements and recommendations, this policy will remain in effect until November 1, 2021.
Fans 12 and older are required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test.

Fans under 12 are not required to provide proof of a negative COVID test.

Per CDC and CDPH definitions, people are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19:

  • Two weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, OR
  • Two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine.

The vaccine requirement can be met by COVID-19 vaccines currently authorized for use:

  • By the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson (J&J)/Janssen), as listed here;
  • By the World Health Organization (e.g. AstraZeneca/Oxford, Sinopharm, Sinovac-CoronoVac), as listed here.
Consistent with Stanford's requirements for student and staff surveillance testing, negative test results must be from PCR or LAMP tests taken no earlier than 72 hours preceding the event start time.

For proof of vaccination, individuals 18 and older must show a photo ID that matches the name on their vaccine record. Acceptable proof of vaccination includes a vaccine card (hard copy, paper photocopy, or clear digital photo) or a State of California digital COVID-19 vaccine record. Vaccination documentation must clearly indicate:

  • Full Name
  • Birthdate
  • Vaccine name/manufacturer
  • Date(s) of vaccination

For proof of a negative test, individuals 18 and older must show a photo ID that matches the name on their test result. Acceptable proof of a negative test includes a hard copy, paper photocopy, or clear digital photo of test results, or an email or text message displayed on phone/device from the test provider or laboratory. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test must clearly indicate:

  • Full Name
  • Birthdate
  • Type of test (only PCR and LAMP tests are acceptable)
  • Date of test
  • Test Result

No. Unvaccinated fans are required to take a test and receive the results prior to arrival at the event.

Beginning with the football game against Oregon on Oct. 2, fans 12 and older will have two options to complete the proof of vaccination or testing verification at Stanford football games.

To complete the verification process early on gameday, fans may visit a tent marked "COVID-19 Vaccine or Testing Verification" where they will present vaccine or testing documentation and receive a wristband that is unique to that event. Tents will open five hours prior to kickoff (7:30 a.m. for the Oct. 2 game) and close two hours prior to kickoff (10:30 a.m. for the Oct. 2 game). The new tent locations are being finalized and a map of the tent locations can be found at GoStanford.com/attendance later this week.

Each stadium entry gate (gates 2, 4, 5, 10, and 12) will have a dedicated express line for fans who receive wristbands via the early verification process. The entrance to the express line will be marked by a tall flag that matches the color of the wristband for that game.

After the early verification tents close, fans will complete the verification process at the stadium entry gates (gates 2, 4, 5, 10, and 12).

Stadium gates open 90 minutes prior to kickoff (11 a.m. for the Oct. 2 game).

For basketball and women's volleyball events at Maples Pavilion, verification will take place immediately prior to scanning tickets at the entrance. Verification will begin when gates open, 90 minutes prior to the event start time.

Yes, fans will need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test result each time they attend a ticketed event at Stanford Stadium or Maples Pavilion.

Stanford Athletics carefully evaluated a number of technologies and vendors intended to streamline entry, particularly for STMs and repeat attendees. After conducting reference checks with other college and professional teams that have implemented similar protocols, we determined manual verification is the best process for Stanford Stadium and Maples Pavilion events.

For all indoor events, masks are required for all fans, regardless of vaccination status. Fans should bring their own face masks that cover their nose and mouth and must wear them at all times, unless actively eating or drinking.

For outdoor events, masks are strongly encouraged for all attendees.

  • Face coverings used at Stanford must meet the following minimum CDC/WHO criteria:
    • Fit snugly against the sides of your face and not have gaps around the nose and chin
    • Completely cover the nose and mouth

Acceptable types include cloth masks with tightly woven fabric (e.g., cotton) and a minimum of two layers, disposable medical/surgical masks, and masks with inner filter pockets

Please note that masks with valves. face shields without a permitted mask underneath, scarfs, ski masks, balaclavas, bandanas, turtlenecks, collars, and single-layer fabric masks do not meet the minimum criteria.
  • Fans should stay home if they are experiencing a fever or any COVID-19 symptoms, have tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 10 days, or have had close contact with anyone who is confirmed or is suspected of having COVID-19.
    Other COVID-19 safety measures include:
    • Hand Sanitizer stations placed throughout the stadium
    • Plexiglass installed at all concession counters
    • Additional janitorial staff to clean and sanitize high touch point areas
    • Revised bag check process to limit touch points

No. At this time, events are scheduled to operate without capacity restrictions.

If you are experiencing symptoms or have come into contact with anyone who is sick, please stay home. Fans unable to attend can transfer their tickets to friends and family, exchange them for another game, gift them back to Stanford, or sell them on StubHub. For further assistance, please email athleticstickets@stanford.edu.

In the event of a cancelation or the introduction of capacity restrictions that affect your tickets, fans will have four options to reconcile their payments under the Stanford Athletics 100% Assured policy.
Unvaccinated fans may attend ticketed events at Stanford Stadium and Maples Pavilion by providing a photo ID and proof of a negative PCR or LAMP test taken within 72 hours of the event start time. Unvaccinated fans will also be required to wear a mask at all times, unless actively eating or drinking.

Vaccinated fans who have tested positive for COVID in the last 90 days and have fully recovered should provide proof of vaccination.

For unvaccinated fans, Stanford is following CDC guidance recommending against testing within 90 days of a positive COVID test. Instead of providing a negative test result, unvaccinated fans may show proof of the positive test within the last 90 days AND a doctor's note stating that they have fully recovered and have no symptoms.

For proof of a positive test, individuals 18 and older must show a photo ID that matches the name on their test result. Acceptable proof of a positive test includes a hard copy, paper photocopy, or clear digital photo of test results, or an email or text message displayed on phone/device from the test provider or laboratory. Proof of a positive COVID-19 test must clearly indicate:

  • Full Name
  • Birthdate
  • Type of test (only PCR and LAMP tests are acceptable)
  • Date of test
  • Test Result
