Applying as a Group

• Groups can be composed of up to eight students. Please note that the group you apply with will be considered your initial household. The household program allows for increased social connections between students while still following state and county guidelines. Please visit the Dean of Students website for more information about households.
• Once you reach the Summer Housing Allocation, the leader of your group (the first to apply), will establish a group name and password for the group and will rank the group’s housing options in order of preference. You will be required to rank all of the housing options available. All members of the group must apply in the portal to be assigned.
• To join a group, enter the name and password established by the group leader. You will not see or be able to rank any housing options. Everyone in the group will have the same housing choices in the same order, as submitted by their group leader. Because of this, it is very important that you are talking with your group members and establishing a consensus regarding the order of your housing choices.

Why such an emphasis on groups?

• Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to ensure physical distancing, it is likely that you will not be able to visit students in other houses. Additionally, students may be restricted to a specific dining hall based on their housing assignment. Because of this, we want to make sure that you are living in close proximity to your friends. 
• While the Summer Housing Allocation is designed to keep friend groups together, rest assured it is also perfectly fine to apply without a group. In fact, we anticipate a number of students will elect to apply on their own.
• Because our top priority is keeping groups together, randomly generated numbers will not be the sole driver in where you are placed. Your housing rankings and our ability to keep your group together within a house will determine your assignment. Because of this, application numbers and residence cut-offs will not be published.
• In order to help us keep friend groups together, students will rank room types within complexes and large residence halls instead of smaller houses. Depending on demand, houses could be all-frosh, four-class or all upperclass students. Please note that not all of the locations will be available for students depending on construction/renovation schedules and other operational needs. Students must rank all of the housing choices on their application.

Housing Accommodations

Students who have disability-related housing needs can request housing accommodations through the Office of Accessible Education (OAE). Any student needing an accommodation who has not registered with the OAE previously should do so immediately. Registration and submission of the Housing Accommodation Request Form will be online through OAE Connect. The disability accommodations process takes place before the Summer Housing Allocation process, although the deadline is the same. Students requiring special housing consideration must apply for housing in Axess and submit their online Housing Accommodation Request Form to the OAE by 5:00 p.m. on May 7. Disability-related requests submitted after the deadline will be considered and implemented on a rolling basis, as space become available.
