About

Our Mission

The SSC serves student’s academic and financial needs by acting as the “front face” of the University Registrar, Student Financial Services and Graduate Admissions. We are here to enrich and make your path in concert with your academic program a success. We pride ourselves in creating and sharing a safe and welcoming space for all our students from all walks of life.

Our Vision

Our unique, data-informed perspective on student experiences with academic and financial systems (over time and across programs and functions) drives our work in identifying and voicing student/user “pain points” and working toward system improvements. As experts in this aspect of student experience, we consult and collaborate with our campus partners to create and implement meaningful solutions.

What We Do

  • The Student Services Center (SSC) prides itself in helping students navigate academic and financial systems and policies, explain next steps, and connect students to appropriate offices. Examples include:
    • Explaining how the "student bill" works
    • Assisting with financial holds, including coordinating with Student Financial Services (SFS) and the Financial Aid Office (FAO)
    • Assisting with student payroll deduction (enrollment)
    • Disseminating information about the 1098-T and how to find other University Tax forms
    • Troubleshooting enrollment
    • Articulating special registration options
  • We administer and uphold compliance standards regarding VA education benefits, NCAA Bylaw 14, and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • We promote student accountability and advocate for equitable student system and policy access
