Clinical and Investigative Training

The Division of Blood and Marrow Transplantation at Stanford University School of Medicine accepts applications each spring for one-year clinical Fellowships beginning the following July 1. Application details for the Clinical Fellowship program are below.

Program Description

This fellowship provides clinical and investigative training in adult hematopoietic cell transplantation including autologous and allogeneic (related and unrelated) procedures, as well as non-myeloablative, haploidentical, and umbilical cord blood transplants. The fellow will participate in clinical care, provided in outpatient and inpatient settings, and research. Fellows are encouraged to become integrated into a mentored clinical research project, where they will gain experience in data analysis and manuscript writing and submission. Within its NCI-designated Stanford Cancer Institute, the Stanford BMT Program offers outstanding opportunities for collaborative and basic research, and an active clinical trials program.

Facilities include a dedicated GMP-approved cell processing facility, a dedicated 22-bed inpatient unit, and an outpatient clinical cancer center which houses the infusion treatment area, apheresis unit and BMT Clinic. The Stanford BMT Program is accredited by the Foundation for Cellular Therapeutics (FACT) and the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP).

The division also sponsors a 1-2 year postdoctoral Training program in Hematopoetic Transplantation. We welcome applications from applicants with a variety of scientific backgrounds, and believe that diversity of previous experience enriches our multidisciplinary evironment.

Selection Criteria

Selection will be made based on a review of the applicant’s prior experience, letters of recommendation and a personal interview.
