I went to medical school knowing I wanted to pursue primary care and have been doing so for 20 years. Being a doctor is so much more than prescribing medicine, it is getting to really know you, taking time to listen and understand your life situation, your aspirations and even fears. There are many determinants of someone’s health: your past experiences, your current circumstance, and your goals for the future all need to be taken into account. I consider it a privilege to know my patients over many years and to be able to help you achieve fulfillment in life despite ailments, acute or chronic.
If you would like to know my past, present, and future goals, I’ll tell you briefly that I was born and raised in Belgium, came to the US at age 19 to study at UCLA and UCSF Medicine, and met an earthquake researcher who has been my husband for 31 years. We have two children, one college bound, the other a sophomore in high school. I love to travel, hike, garden, take photographs but above all, spend time with my family. I hope to keep practicing medicine for many more years and thus continue to meet interesting people who teach me so many valuable life lessons. I feel fortunate to be part of the Stanford community.

Dr. de Bruyne is very thorough. Together, we are addressing ALL of my health concerns she is finding solutions to my chronic problems, not just "bandaids" for my symptoms. She is very patient and never rushes through my appointments. I trust her with my health completely.

Dr De Bruyne is amazing, as per usual. I am beyond devastated that she will be leaving the clinic, but I wish her the absolute best. I hope that Dr De Bruyne's high quality in everything will be taken into consideration when choosing her replacement. Dr De Bruyne has forever changed the way I feel about Drs and getting medical care - I used to fear it and avoid it, but now I keep up with everything regularly and I no longer dread having to go to the dr.

Very good and thorough, just a bit of overlap with seeing the medical student first (for a long time) and then the physician afterwards. I wasn't advised that the alcohol should not be used with the toenail fungus Rx. They didn't advise me about it at CVS, either but I read it on-line afterwards.

Dr De Bruyne is like an angel to me. I've been afraid of going to the dr in the past and once I did start going, I always felt like I was just a number. Dr De Bruyne has made me forget about all of the negative associations I had about seeking medical care. She is kind, compassionate, caring, professional, thorough, and really makes me feel that she is passionate about what she does. She provides plenty of helpful information and relates to me in a way that makes me feel like I fully understand everything and also in a way that makes me comfortable enough to ask questions or touch on subjects that could be embarrassing to talk about. I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr De Bruyne - she has given me something that means the world to me: peace of mind. I highly recommend her to everyone I know because I want everyone to have the amazing patient/Dr experience that I have. Thank you!
