Karl Rove: "I must have a productive wk—which means less Twitter!"

    Suitcase_cat
Reason # Eleventy-Two why we're "tweet on Twitter": Pop goes the suitcase cat [via Right Wing News on Twitter]. Click here to watch.

We follow Ed Morrissey regularly on Michelle Malkin's A-list group blog Hot Air but hadn't "spoken" to him directly since our mutually pioneering days on the blogospheric frontier when Ed was at the helm of his own wildly popular and influential Captain's Quarters blog. Thanks to Twitter, we're talking again:

Ed Morrissey: Question for Tweet peeps: Does it matter whether a politician does his own tweets, or has a staff doing it? Still communicating, or phony?

We: Hi, Cap'n Ed. Forget phony. It's BORING! :-)

Ed: Most times, yes, but not always. And Sissy is never boring!

Here's back at you, Ed! As for whether it matters who actually tweets under famous names, a couple of interesting comments came back in response to the Captain's original question:

ObeliskToucher: If they use their name, it should be them. Otherwise, use "xxxstaff" to make clear that it's really just a press release.

seanhackbarth: Either/or is good. Most important is they're saying something interesting.

KatieFavazza: It's worth noting that some politicians want to tweet themselves but staff is uncomfortable & reluctant to let go of control.

All points well taken, but there's nothing like the real thing, baby. We love it that "GW's brain," Karl Rove — who has 49,190 followers at last count — appears to do his own twittering. Most of his tweets are catchy one-liners referencing what he's thinking about, what he's reading and writing and when he'll be appearing on Fox, all useful info when you're picking the brain of a first-rate intellect who knows a lot about what's going on inside and outside the Beltway. Then once in awhile a special treat, a humorous hint of our shared humanity:

Preparing 4 long day of book writing. Manuscript is due 2 publisher soon & I must have a productive wk—which means less Twitter!

This just in: We are pleased to report that as of this morning, the enigmatic Fluffy the Cat is following us on Twitter. Probably looking for paparazzi shots of glamorpuss Sweet Tiny Pea, above caught in a pensive moment on the garden path yesterday afternoon.

I am all in favor of "tweeting" pols if it is genuine, but knowing how most of them say what they think voters want to hear, I am doubtful if many can be trusted.

I wonder what Tiny thinks of a form of human communication named after bird sounds. Perhaps that's why she looks so pensive.

Hi, Sissy. Thou shalt not covet thy blogging friends' gorgeous cats, even if thine own prosaic American shorthair felines are to thy friends' felines as French's mustard is to Dijon....another lovely shot of a beautiful animal.

Have been mulling over the stuff on how few Republican women there are on the Hill, but so far prolex and convoluted, will let you know if I post anything.

Dear S: Most perceptive beasts, the ME Coon Cats. My family had two, half-siblings, who were great comfort to my father in his dying days. Now the house is run by Rene, he's a retired sire-cat. OK, I'll go Kate Smith on you:
    'God Bless the Chelsea Greys
    cats that I love
    stand beside Siss
    and guide Siss
with a tail swish and ear twitch above
From the whiskers, to the toe pads,
to the claws that do not roam,
God Bless the Chelsea Greys and their home sweet Home,
    Bless too their human friends,
    and home sweet Home!'
I get carried away sometimes... like muffins on the counter, and no-one around... Best, GFT
