Elections Commission throws out Lam Akol’s case against SPLM leader
KHARTOUM (Feb 9, 2010) – The Supreme National Court on Monday threw out a case filed to it by Dr. Lam Akol demanding the Court invalidate the nomination of SPLM Chairman Comrade Salva Kiir, a candidate for the position of president of GOSS in the coming elections.

Sudanese woman to get shot at presidency
KHARTOUM (Feb 9, 2010) – Fatma Abdel Mahmoud shall after all get a shot at the presidency, thanks to a ruling Monday by the Supreme National Court that quashed a National Elections Commission (NEC) decision barring her from contesting for office of the president of the republic in the  forthcoming general elections.

SPLM independents have up to Feb 13 to step down

JUBA (Feb 7, 2010) – Members who have opted to contest the upcoming general elections as independent candidates have until February 13 to either reconsider their positions, SPLM  General Pagan Amum said on Saturday.
