As a follow up to my last
post, it seems Hizbullah is succeeding in turning Lebanon into a police state. The following is outrageous, and incredibly damaging to Lebanon and its tourism sector. Hizbullah, which effectively controls Lebanon's border, has
decreed that Lebanese authorities spy on foreigners with names that sound Jewish, and even turn some of them away.
During an interview with Al Manar TV, the head of the GDGS, General Wafiq Jezzini, who has close ties to Hezbollah, described his new plan to keep Israeli infiltrators out of Lebanon. According to Jezzini, lists of Jewish family names have been distributed at the borders. “When someone arrives in Lebanon with a foreign passport and his family name suggests that he is of Jewish origin, the border center sends his information to the central information office at the General Security Directorate, which specifically takes responsibility for following this individual,” Jezzini said.
Several foreigners NOW Lebanon spoke to have already been denied entry into the country at the airport. Most of them were in Lebanon to study or were employed by Lebanese companies. Some of them ended up stranded in other Middle Eastern countries while all their belongings stayed here. In the meantime, their friends are trying to convince the General Security that they made a mistake. [Now Lebanon]
What a travesty! Hizbullah's and Syria's minions are now waging a smear campaign against the Internal Security forces, the president, and the US embassy. They are purging the country of anything and anyone opposed to their agenda. It's terrorism in broad daylight, yet very few see it.
Lebanon, alas, is dead.

Are we sure this was not happening anyway at the hands of Hizballa? The Sayyed is under a death threat isn't he? So they must be watching any and everyone coming into Lebanon Arab or foreign. Ya3ni walla if they want to send spies and are foreging passports are they really going to name someone goldburg instead of Williamson? Shu 7ameer?
It seems also that Napol3oon sees a possibility of taking on the presidency now that he has declared that M14 is dead. Hal Majnoon will stop at nothing now. The issue of the US Embassey's request for information may actually be a disaster in the making.
On another note Israel's off and on threat of war on Lebanon looks like it is off again. The Iron shield in Israel is looking like a fiasco that will be pitted full of holes with rockets and the Surface to Air missles in the hands of Hizballa have change the equation again. This along with Hariri's diplomacy in Europe and Obamma's pissed-offedness with Israel may have delayed any adventure Israel was contemplating in the region for now.

Yup. I pointed this out in my comment under the previous post.
Stick a fork in it, Lebanon is done.
And the Lebanese can keep their heads in the sand while the rest of us watch it go the way of the dodo.

Danny, easier said and done (being positive in this country of ours). I have been regretting coming back home for a while now, and now find myself considering moving back to England. As the days go by, I am getting more dissapointed (disgusted is the right word) with M14's especially goatee Saad, never in the history of Lebanon did any official bend on all fours as those M14's are doing. I for once is no longer willing to shed a single drop of my blood for a country populated by idiots who follow but never lead, by people who see their basic rights being raped every day and sit idle watching.
Tfeh !

M,
You know that my comment was in jest...AK has articulated the ever eroding favric of Lebanese culture. They seem on suicide watch! All these 'events" don't bother them the least as far as some have their sahras...
The most tragic part is the constant seeping away of basic human rights and values. The summer is around the corner and they should be all happy! Once WJ returns from Damascus I surmise there will be a broadside against Samir Geagea and the LF to finish off the remnants was once M14!
The unfortunate part is that they are slowly accepting this as a fait accompli..
Off couse the Iranian dilemma is hanging over the people's head like a Deamoclean sword!

"Magistrate Saqr Saqr charged Bassam Jamil and Moussa Ali Moussa with spying for Israel. He also issued similar charges against fugitives Ali Mohammed Saeed and Hasan Hussein Abdullah" - Naharnet
Lets see now: Bassam, Jamil, Moussa, Ali, Mohammed, Saeed, Hasan, Hussein and Abdallah. Definitely Kosher-eating, wall-head-banging, Jerusalem-settling and Jewish sounding, that lot. Bet they are all part of the Beirut Maghen Abraham Synagogue Facebook group, too.

Hehe @Naja's post.
I guess someone forgot to point that out to Nassrallah or his latest official spokesperson, the ignominious Moussawi.
I'd absolutely LOVE to see a non-shia MP giving an interview in which he decries "All people with shiite names should be treated as potential spies. Given the recent spate of arrests and prosecutions."
That'd be good for a laugh...

Lebanon is like a frog in water being slowly heated. He will boil over before knowing when to jump. Assad's useful idiots and the Lebanese Basij are at the gate awaiting the opportune time to devour Lebanon and chain our freedom and liberty, while people and the media are lost in trivial stuff. No doubt Aoun has caused more harm to Lebanon's democracy than anyone in history, but Jumblat is the bigger culprit because while Aoun is mentally unbalanced, Jumblat actions of selling his community to the devil are premeditated. Time for those who care about freedom and democracy to wake up and smell the Cedars before the forces of darkness engulf the land.

I really din't understand how Marwan Hamadi is going along with the fool of Mukhtara. Of all the crazy stuff that happens in Lebanese politics, this Jumblat flip is worthy of a Yogi. When is he handing over the feudal reign to Taymoor again?
