Ex-Detroit Metro screener charged with hiding bin Laden sympathy

He was discharged from the Air Force for pro-Osama statements. Then he got a job as...an airport screener. But of course, what he said was taken out of context. From AP, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:

DETROIT (AP) — A Yemeni immigrant who was discharged from the U.S. Air Force after expressing sympathy for Osama bin Laden following the Sept. 11 attacks faces trial next week on accusations of lying to land a job as an airport screener.

Sadeq Naji Ahmed, 25, of Dearborn faces up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted of making false statements on a questionnaire to get a job with the Transportation Security Administration at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

"This is a case of vast government overkill," defense lawyer William Swor said Thursday after U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman declined to dismiss the indictment. "My client is an absolutely loyal American."

Following his arraignment in July, Ahmed told reporters "people take things out of context, that's not the right information."...

The indictment said that Ahmed made statements in support of bin Laden, that he was neither for or against the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, that the United States deserved to be attacked, that he would not fight if the U.S. military took action in Iraq and that U.S. aircraft flying over Iraq should crash.

On Sept. 17, 2001, superiors suspended his access to classified information and secure areas of the base, the indictment said. He was reassigned to administrative duties and honorably discharged 11 days later, two months shy of completing his 4-year tour.

He returned to Detroit and got a job in December 2001 as a baggage screener for a private contractor at Detroit Metro. In October 2002, he was conditionally appointed to the Transportation Security Administration contingent upon passing a background check, which included filling out a questionnaire.

He was dismissed in August 2003 after the government learned about his Air Force discharge.

Swor said his client "was simply exercising his First Amendment right to question and criticize the policies of the U.S. government. The military and the government didn't like his point of view, and they've charged him with a felony that could ruin the rest of his life."

Sedition...deport him.

I wonder if Mr. Ahmed's parents were laughing contemptuously in the courtroom in the same manner as traitor Abu Ali's when the charges were read?

send his lawyer out of this country too ,because he aparently know what loyal Americans are ,

INFILTRATION.Was he a plant for the jihadist. He being told to at a certain date and time to let sip through a certain luggage."that he was neither for or against the Sept.11 terrorist attacks" if you are not against it then you're for it.

Send him Saudi Arabia. He can get a cushy job hitting women with a stick who want to drive cars or vote. Or worse, think.

Clearly he had some ulterior motive for wanting to be within the security system of the U.S.

Otherwise he could have been harmlessly selling falafels or bootleg CD's or knock-off oriental carpets at some Detroit area strip mall.

How did this slug ever get an honorable discharge when he was openly advocating disloyalty, if not treason? A 'general, under honorable conditions' is more common for such time & money-wasting, hard-to-prosecute offenses, but, in his case, an undesirable dischage seems more appropriate. And now it should be downgraded to dishonorable.

The military should accept no more Muslims in service, since their allegiance to the Koran supercedes any other loyalty. And term them as "disallowed for military duty" but perhaps call them "Islamo-conscientious ojectors", whereby they could be given an opportunity for harmless civilian service instead. Cleaning ghetto streets; emptying bedpans in lunatic asylums; etc.

I do not trust believers in the Koran, and its system of Islamic Law, which decress the downfall of all systems of thought and government and jurisprudence but their own. They can prove their loyalty by accepting that their beliefs exempt them from being trusted.

Paradoxical?

So is all belief.

Mr. Ahmed should remember that when you join the U.S. military you give up many rights, including the freedom of speech. You give up the right to wear your hair long, you give up the right to date anybody you want, you give up the right to be any weight you want, etc... In the civilian world you can say what you think but in the military if you give them any reason to doubt your loyalty, you can expect to be relieved of duty. In the 80's if you claimed to support the Russians you would be reassigned. If you thought the Nazis were peachy in the 40's you would be gone. It is no different now. He was reassigned to administrative duties and honorably discharged. Thats military for "Thanks but no thanks, we think you are a risk" In America we have the freedom of speech, but that dosen't mean there are no consequences for what you say. I have the right to tell my 7ft 300lb neighbor that I think his wife is a hot little slut, but the consequence is going to be a punch to the nose. Be a man. Accept the consequence of your action. Move on. Quit lying on job applications.

Since this seditious piece of trash committed his treasonous acts while still in uniform, he should be held to answer the charge of High treason by Courts Martial, and if found guilty, promptly executed as the Yemeni Government would do anyone for the same violation there.

I still don’t understand why anyone bothers to get logical with animals incapable of grasping the concept: Makes about as much sense as trying to talk a scorpion out of stinging you. - There is little if anything intelligent or rational about these barbarians, and the most effective rule is to just shoot every one of the Bastards and let God sort out what’s left.

An equal part of the blame in all this lies with many of the Treasonous Politicians & Activist judges that allow this human sleaze to remain here even after they’ve shown their hate for our way of Life. - We need an accountability law clearly defining how any Politico or Judge passing Laws & Sentences that endangers American lives down the road, can legally be held accountable to the People, then promptly Tried & Burned alive at the stake once found guilty.

Sometimes one has to stoop down to the enemy’s level of engagement to defeat him, and until we start treating these Malcontents & Zealots with the same tolerance and methods they would use on us, they will continue to exploit our compassions against us and we are destined to lose.

BTW: The Geneva Convention was never intended for non-subscribers, and any Nation, Group, or Religion who refuses to abide by it, should be treated accordingly. – And why should it apply to those who torture and murder our warriors & citizens? - Are folks really so sympatico to these Butchers that they'll tolerate any abuse to their people, or slit their own throats just to appease Pacifistic Dreamers, Cowards, and the Enemy?

Anyone who can’t understand that, should just do everyone else a favor and commit suicide now and stop endangering the lives of everyone else with your Idealistic Cock & Bull philosophies

When dealing with islam / muslims always keep in mind this article concerning "The Principle of Al-Takeyya" from IslamReview.com

The principle of Al-Takeyya

The Arabic word, “Takeyya”, means, “to guard against.” The principle of Al Takeyya conveys the understanding that Muslims are permitted to lie as a preventive measure against anticipated harm to one’s self or fellow Muslims. They can even deny the faith, if they do not mean it in their hearts. Al-Takeyya is based on the following Quranic verse:

“Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution, that ye may Guard yourselves from them. But Allah cautions you (To remember) Himself; for the final goal is to Allah.” Surah 3: 28

According to this verse it is acceptable for Muslims to use deceptive tactics. In violation to the teachings of Islam, they can pretend to befriend infidels. In situations where real or imagined harm is perceived they are permitted to display adherence with the ideals of those considered as infidels.

It is important to understand that Muslims take great liberty in expanding the perimeters of circumstances under which they are permitted to lie and to use deceptive tactics. When dealing with Muslim leaders it is essential to keep in mind that they can say or do anything that will get them out of trouble. All the while, they are apt to have just the opposite agenda in their hearts. With this in mind, in matters pertaining to war and international politics, there is a question that we need to ask ourselves. Can Muslim countries be trusted to play it fair and keep their end of the agreements that they sign with non-Muslim nations?

It is imperative that our leaders not be naïve. They must understand that Muslims can use this loophole in their religion to absolve them from any accountability when they revert to deceptive tactics. They can unashamedly do so, as they adhere to Mohammed, the prophet of Islam, who was quoted as saying “War is a deception.” The Allah of Islam is described in the Quran as “the best of deceivers.” Surah 8:30.
