Welcome to the Naval Postgraduate School

Over the course of the university's 100-year history, the Naval Postgraduate School has established a superior level of academic excellence. Throughout the institution's four schools, its comprehensive institutes and several interdisciplinary centers and research groups are a wide breadth of relevant disciplines tailored to the direct needs of national and global security.

Perspectives on NPS

"The Navy has been a leader in this rapid technological advance. But this did not come by accident, nor did it come overnight. It has been the result of educating carefully selected officers in each succeeding generation of officers. It has been essential to train officers who could assimilate the education they would receive, who would continue their professional interests, who would be fully qualified for command at sea, and who would combine the scholar's interest in science and technology with the practical man's appreciation of how new discoveries can be applied. All with but one purpose, one objective: to improve the Navy's combat effectiveness, and security of the United States."

—Admiral Arleigh Burke
Chief of Naval Operations, 1955-1961
NPS Class of 1930 - Ordnance Engineering
