How It Works
- We provide material when Stanford does not own it or when the title is available only in print format
- No fee when requesting items not owned by a Stanford Library
- Search Socrates, Stanford's main library catalog, to check all libraries before placing your request
- Notification via email for pickup
- Materials held for 7 days at the User Services Desk
- Arrival time from other institutions typically 7-10 days
- You may keep ILL books for two weeks from receipt
Cost
- NO CHARGE for eligible Stanford School of Medicine students, faculty and staff
- We incur costs for this service averaging $15.00-$20.00 per item, so please request prudently
Renewals & Returns
- Renewals are not automatic
- Renewal policies vary among lenders
- Books cannot be renewed at the User Services Desk
- Books should be returned at the User Services Desk
- Do not leave at a book drop
Who is eligible?
- Stanford School of Medicine staff, faculty and students
- Stanford undergraduate HumBio majors
- Stanford Hospital and Clinics and Lucille Packard Children's Hospital staff
- Bioengineering/BioX graduate students
- Stanford University affiliates (including undergraduates who are not HumBio or BioX majors) should use Stanford University Libraries Interlibrary Loan

- Newspapers

Additional Services
RLCP
Research Library Cooperative Program (RLCP) allows Stanford faculty, academic staff, and graduate students to request research materials directly from the University of California at Berkeley or the University of Texas at Austin.
Only materials that are not at Stanford, but are available at UCB or UT Austin, can be requested through this service.
