Nov. 20, 2017: the date SCI will notify the two applicants selected to proceed with their applications
Nov. 22, 2017: deadline for institutions to submit the information on their two nominations to NCCN. NCCN will send information to the two applicants regarding their online application system.
Jan. 10, 2018: date the final applicants must submit their applications and fully approved & completed PDRF form to their Research Process Manager (RPM) in RMG
Jan. 17, 2018, 5 p.m. E.T.: date final applications due at the NCCN Foundation
Grants will be announced in March 2018. Term: July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2020

Amount of funding: $150,000 over 2 years. Within the total budget indirect costs will be covered to a maximum of 8%.
- have a first full time appointment as an Instructor or as an Assistant Professor with PI eligibility (UTL, MCL, and NTLR appointments) in an NCCN institution.
- Not eligible: CE assistant professors, Clinical Instructors, Academic staff-research
- The award is open to physicians and scientists working in an oncology laboratory, clinical research or clinical setting, or cancer control program in one of the NCCN’s 27 Member Institutions for the duration of the award who:
- have MD’s, M.D./Ph.D. or PhD degree or international equivalent.
- Candidates must not have other funding that duplicates the focus and purpose of this award
- Mentor in the proposed research field
- Institutional commitment to support the research project
Purpose:
Through its Young Investigator Award (YIA) Program, the NCCN Foundation invites proposals from young investigators with innovative ideas and an interest in improving the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of care provided to cancer patients. A primary focus of the NCCN Foundation YIA program is to identify and fund top investigators in the early stages of their careers, interested in participating and contributing to cancer research. The NCCN Foundation also recognizes the growing need for evidence-based research in the areas of clinical treatment and management (including new diagnostics and molecular markers), health systems and delivery of care, quality of life for cancer patients, and patient education. On average, four to six awards are granted per year.
A hallmark of NCCN's programs has been strong attention to excellent data collection, analysis and outcomes measures. Successful YIA proposal submissions will be expected to bring this same high level of rigor to their research and clinical practice programs. Successful candidates will identify and work closely with an appropriate institutional mentor and develop a timeline for their two-year YIA. Following completion of research, abstracts will be published in print and online in JNCCN–Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. Awardees will be expected to present their findings within their own institution through educational opportunities such as grand rounds and tumor boards.

Selection Process
The Stanford Cancer Institute will select the two applicants to represent the university.
