TRAINING: Beginning GFS Policy and Entry Classes

Before access is granted to the system, department administrators and student services officers are required to enroll in the "GFS Policy Class." This GFS class is offered each month, and is listed in STARS. In addition, those who will be entering data in GFS need to complete online training.

Stanford Bulletin

This annual publication of the Office of the Registrar is the key official statement of Stanford's policies relevant to students' pursuit of degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Bulletin contains department requirements for each degree/major, as well as University requirements. In addition, it catalogues the expected course offerings of each department for the year, and it contains descriptions of policies relevant to students in areas such as tuition and fee assessment, grading and academic grievance. Questions about the publication and distribution of the Bulletin should be referred to the Registrar's Publication Office, 5-1879. Questions regarding content should be referred to whichever University office has policy jurisdiction over that area.

 Graduate Academic Policies and Procedures Handbook

The GAP handbook is a compilation of university policies and other information related to the academic progress of Stanford graduate students -- from their application and admission, to the conferral of degrees and retention of records. Chapter 7 of the GAP describes graduate student funding. This handbook is maintained by the Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Education.
