Stanford researchers are looking for participants willing to take part in organizational and marketing studies. You may participate either in-person in our lab or online on your home computer. Studies typically include cash or gift card payments to participants averaging $20 an hour. None of our studies involve physical exertion or medical procedures.

Before you sign up for a study, make sure you read the description so you know how you will be compensated. Researchers generally pay participants immediately after participation for in-person studies, and within 5-10 days after the close of the study for online participation.

Qualifications to participate:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older
  • You may have only one Sona account
  • You may not participate in the same study more than once
  • You must complete a prescreen form
  • You may NOT participate if you are a graduate student in Psychology,
    Organizational Behavior, or Marketing
  • Note: If you are NOT a U.S. citizen, you may still participate in most studies run
    through the Behavioral Lab

If you have a Stanford email address:

If you are a Stanford affiliate you may register for Sona Systems, a participant management system. On the site, you will be able to view available studies and the compensation amounts before signing up for the studies that you wish to participate in.

If you have a stanford.edu email address, you may sign up HERE to participate in our student pool to participate in studies in our lab on campus or participate in studies from home on your computer.

If you do NOT have Stanford email address:

Our national participant pool open to online participants from all over the United States and Canada. If you are NOT a Stanford affiliate you may register for our national pool on Sona Systems, a participant management system. On the site, you will be able to view available studies and the compensation amounts before signing up for the studies in which you wish to participate. The studies in this pool are completely online and can be completed on your computer. Click HERE to sign up and get paid to take studies.

We also run studies through Mechanical Turk (Mturk) run by Amazon. Amazon hires individuals to complete tasks, and the tasks that the Behavioral Lab posts to the site consist of surveys. Though there is no way to specifically search for Stanford studies on Mturk, many universities use this site to run studies and many studies are available for compensated participation. For more information on how to participate click HERE.

Another participant pool through which we run studies is Survey Sampling International (SSI). We are one group for which SSI hires individuals to take surveys. Though there is no way to specifically search for Stanford studies on the SSI site, many surveys are available to be taken for compensation. For more information on how to participate click HERE.
