The mission of our department is: “To bring the most advanced care to our patients by being at the cutting edge of research and technology.” To achieve this, our top priority is to rapidly implement our breakthrough research discoveries to improve clinical outcomes for our patients. Our outstanding basic science research programs in radiation biology and radiation physics, combined with exceptional patient care, has led to a world-class program in translational research. Presently, we have several active clinical trials translating our laboratory discoveries into novel therapeutic approaches...

Katharine Dexter McCormick and Stanley McCormick Memorial Professor
Professor and Chair, Department of Radiation Oncology, Stanford University.
Le is being recognized for her contributions to the development of new radiotherapy treatment paradigms for cancer of the head, neck, and lungs, and for her leadership in medicine on prominent national panels and as chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University.  Full story


Iris Gibbs, MD, Named ELAM Fellow for 2015-2016
 
Iris Gibbs, MD, Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at Stanford Medicine, has been named a fellow in the 2015-2016 class of the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program for Women. The ELAM fellowship is dedicated to helping women develop the professional and personal skills required to lead and manage in today's complex health care environment, with special attention to the unique challenges facing women in leadership positions.

LEI XING RECEIVES NIH R01 GRANT FOR THEIR PROJECT “DASSIM-RT AND COMPRESSED SENSING-BASED INVERSE PLANNING."

Lei Xing, PhD, the Jacob Haimson Professor and Director of the Radiation Physics Division, and colleagues from the SCI and the School of Engineering earned an NIH R01 grant for their project “DASSIM-RT and Compressed Sensing-based Inverse Planning." The five year, $2.4 million grant will support the team's development of novel planning and delivery strategies for a new generation of radiation therapy technique called station parameter optimized radiation Full story »


DR. QUYNH LE IS SELECTED AS A 2014 AMERICAN SOCIETY OF RADIATION ONCOLOGY FELLOW (FASTRO)

Dr. Quynh Le, Chair of Radiation Oncology, was selected as a 2014 American Society of Radiation Oncology Fellow (FASTRO) inductee. This honor is conferred in recognition of her leadership and significant service to ASTRO, and her contributions to the field of radiation oncology. Full story »
