Swain Library workshops

The Swain Library offers workshops to help support chemistry and chemical engineering information needs on campus. All sessions are open to current students, faculty, and staff at Stanford. Workshops are held in the training area at the back of the Swain Library and include hands-on practice time.

xSearch

Description: xSearch allows you to search up to 250+ resources at one time. Resources include full-text searching of ebooks and ejournals, databases, patents, dissertations, news, datasets, streaming media, plus more.  Learn search tips, how to set up alerts, and how create your own customized search engine.  Dates: Wednesday, September 30, 2015, from 2:00-3:00pm and Thursday, October 1, 2015, from Noon-1:00.  Location: Swain Library.  Instructor: Grace Baysinger, Swain Librarian.

  Web of Science - Advanced Search Tips

Description: The Web of Science is a multidisciplinary database that includes over 12,000 journals.   SciFinder - Advanced Search Tips

Description: SciFinder includes many powerful tools you can use to find information on your topic.  Learn how to use these tools find review papers, the most cited papers, key authors and organizations, and related research on your topic.  Also learn advanced strategies for locating substances and reactions of interest.  Date: Monday, October 12, 2015 from 4:00-5:00pm and Thursday, October 15, 2015, from Noon-1:00pm.  Location: Swain Library.  Instructor: Grace Baysinger, Swain Librarian.

  Reaxys Xcelerate - Advanced Search Tips
