New Student Orientation (NSO)

New Student Orientation Overview
Welcome! New Student Orientation will introduce you to the wide array of academic, intellectual, leadership, cultural, and social experiences available to you at Stanford. You will attend many engaging programs during NSO, but you will also have time to settle into your room, make friends, and prepare for classes. NSO 2015 begins on Tuesday, September 15, and runs through Sunday, September 20. All new students must be checked in by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, and are required to attend the full duration of NSO.

Class of 2019: We'd like to hear from you! Please let us know your thoughts by completing the NSO Student Survey by Sunday, October 18, 2015. You'll be entered into a random drawing for Bookstore gift cards. Thank you!
New Student Orientation (NSO) will take place from Tuesday, September 15, through Sunday, September 20, 2015. *Please note that filming of NSO programs is not allowed.*
Move-In Day is Tuesday, September 15, 2015! All new students must be checked in by 5:00 p.m. Check here for directions, driving routes, maps, the NSO Parking Pass, and packing/shipping guidelines.
New Student Orientation events for parents and families will take place on the first day of NSO: Tuesday, September 15, 2015. This page offers information about parent events, resources, guidance on getting around campus, and the 2015 NSO Parent Survey. We welcome your feedback about NSO.
We respect students’ religious commitments and have ensured that there are opportunities on campus for observance. In 2015, the Jewish observance of Rosh Hashanah will occur during NSO. New students unable to travel during Rosh Hashanah may submit a request (by the July 1 deadline) for early arrival on September 13 to their residence on the basis of this religious conflict.
There are many opportunities for members of the Stanford community to contribute to NSO. Student volunteers, staff members, faculty, and alumni play a vital role in supporting new students and their families and we hope you will join us in welcoming the newest members of our family to the Farm. Current Stanford students and VSOs should review the "NSO Policy for Student Groups on Recruitment and Tabling."
Students who are invited to attend these pre-orientation programs will need to register in advance for them: International Student Orientation (ISO), Stanford Pre-Orientation Trips (SPOT), and the Stanford Native Immersion Program. These programs will conclude by September 15, 2015, so that you can participate fully in NSO. If you are eligible to attend any of these programs, you will receive more information with registration instructions and deadlines during the summer.
