Zone Project Management

Quick Links

Zone Project Management is a project management resource for managing maintenance and construction projects, from planning and design, budgeting and cost management, to construction and close out. We are part of the Zone Management team within the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance (BGM) organization.

What Zone Project Management Does

  • Manage University Planned Maintenance Projects
  • Support Americans with Disabilities Act Barrier Removal Program (ADABRP)
  • Energy Retrofit and Sustainability Projects
  • Emergency Response and Repairs

Investment In Plant Projects

We work with our colleagues in Zone Management and partner with Building Maintenance shops to deliver and complete the University Investment In Plant Program. Zone Management is responsible for identifying and planning maintenance projects for the current fiscal year, 3-year plan, and 10-year look ahead, for building mechanical systems and common area facilities within the four academic Zones. We utilize the expertise of Building Maintenance technicians who have the experience and knowledge about our building systems to ensure continuity.

Investment In Plant projects include heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) upgrades, plumbing system improvements, electrical code upgrades, fire safety equipment, detailing and improving interior finishes for common area spaces and classrooms.

ADA Accessibility and Barrier Removal

We provide support to the Diversity and Access Office and assist them with identifying and correcting accessibility barriers for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The ADA Barrier Removal Program has eliminated many barriers throughout campus and continues to improve access to Stanford’s facilities each year.

Campus ADA projects include creating wheelchair accessible building entrances, installing automatic door openers, retrofitting stalls, counters, sinks and faucets in restrooms, and modifying study spaces in libraries to be more usable and accessible.

Energy Retrofit and Sustainability Projects

As part of the University wide effort, we provide project management services to support a variety of energy retrofit projects and processes that promote a more sustainable environment.

  • Heating and ventilation system modifications
  • Lighting and electric device retrofits
  • Domestic water conservation projects
  • Window tinting and glazing modifications
  • Local recycling of construction materials recovered from demolition work
  • Utilize sustainable resources for scoping, planning and design process
