Leadership Education for Aspiring Physicians (LEAP)

Leadership Education for Aspiring Physicians (LEAP) is a project-based seminar series designed to provide timely, relevant training to premedical students through practical skill-building, case studies, and exposure to leaders throughout the healthcare industry. Physicians and other health workers are expected to navigate increasingly complex patient care systems within the realm of insurance, administration, policy, and public health in addition to individual patient care. This series examines the challenges facing physicians as leaders in healthcare and provides participants with the skills to lead now and in the future.

Participants attend monthly seminars that conclude with a capstone project that emphasizes leadership within the context of service, advocacy, and/or research.

Who Should Attend these Seminars?

  • Premedical students who may be in or considering leadership roles on their campus or in their community.
  • Premedical students working to make a positive impact on health or lifestyle outcomes.

What is the Time Commitment?
There are 10 sessions planned, about one Saturday per month. Students receive advising and project planning support between March and June from 9am-1pm to help with the successful development, implementation and evaluation of their projects. The seminars are self-contained and require little reading/coursework outside of the session dates.
