Form 1 Initiation

A Form 1 is required to obtain approval for most construction projects on campus. This form is circulated to all the appropriate offices, which can review the project for applicable scope, feasibility, and other issues. It also ensures that Stanford’s Project Delivery Process, or PDP, is followed. The Department of Capital Planning administers the Form 1 system and is your resource for policy and system questions.

Projects that require Form 1 include:
  • New construction
  • Renovations
  • Demolitions
  • Interior building changes
  • Projects that affect building exteriors
  • Landscape changes
  • Land use
  • Capital Utilities Program
  • Stanford Infrastructure Program (SIP)
  • General Use Permit (GUP)
