Breakthrough Award Levels 1 and 2
Purpose: The intent of the Breakthrough Award is to support promising research that has high potential to lead to or make breakthroughs in breast cancer.
Funding level descriptions:
Funding Level 1: Innovative, high-risk/high-reward research that is in the earliest stages of idea development. Research with potential to yield new avenues of investigation. Proof of concept. No preliminary data required.
Funding Level 2: Research that is already supported by preliminary data and has potential to make significant advancements toward clinical translation. Demonstration of efficacy in in vivo models, as applicable.
Eligibility: Faculty with PI eligibility and CE faculty (with an approved CE faculty waiver obtained prior to the pre-application); Instructors* and Postdoctoral Fellows*
Career Development PI waiver: Instructors* and Postdoctoral Fellows* will need to submit and obtain approval for career development PI waivers >> through their RPMs in RMG in prior to submitting a pre-application/letter of intent. Please complete the mentorship statement provided by the sponsor.
Stanford eligibility clarification for this RFP: The eligibility guidelines indicate "Investigators at all academic levels (or equivalent) are eligible to submit an application." and Postdoctoral fellows are eligible to submit and are encouraged to apply. Because the RFP is considered a mentored career development grant for postdoctoral fellows, our Dean's Office has confirmed this can also be considered mentored career development grant for Instructors as well.
Academic staff-researc (Research associates, senior research scholars) are not eligible.
Partnering PI Option: The Breakthrough Award encourages applications that include meaningful and productive collaborations between investigators. Peer Reviewed Orthopaedic Research Program
Orthopaedic Care and Rehabilation Consortium
Amount of funding: maximum of $18 million total costs (includes indirect costs) over 5 years
Eligibility: The Coordinating Center PI must be an independent investigator at or above the level of Associate Professor (or equivalent) at an eligible organization.
Stanford Associate Professors and above with PI eligibility.
Purpose: A single $18 million award will be made to support the FY15 PRORP Orthopaedic Care and Rehabilitation Consortium. This award will be made to the Coordinating Center applicant that is selected for funding. The Coordinating Center will provide funding support to the Clinical Study Sites through the appropriate subaward or other instrument. The PI for the Coordinating Center application must be at the level of Associate Professor with PI eligibility and above. The Coordinating Center can also be one of the clinical sites.
The PRORP OCRCA mechanism is being offered for the first time in FY15. The PRORP OCRCA is intended to support the establishment of a Consortium that consists of multiple organizations and individuals collaboratively working on clinical studies that are focused on improving both acute care treatment outcomes and functional, long-term rehabilitation outcomes of severe musculoskeletal injuries commonly associated with military combat or combat-related activities.
The Government anticipates that applicants will assemble an expert team from multiple institutions, including, but not limited to, academia, MTFs, other Government agencies, clinical research institutions, industry partners, and not-for-profit enterprises to satisfy the objectives of this Program Announcement/Funding Opportunity.
