Dinner with the Chair
Intern Orientation
- Intern orientation is held a week before the start of intern year.
- Throughout the week, there are social events including a welcome dinner at the home of the Department Chair.
Intern Retreat at Garrod Farms

- Intern retreat is held in October just for interns
- This retreat, complete with wine tasting and horseback riding, gives the intern class dedicated time together to reflect on their first few months of residency.

Resident Retreat at Fogarty Winery
Resident Retreat
- The resident retreat is held each spring for all residents.
- During the retreat, residents have the opportunity for wine tasting, and engage in team-building activities.
Holiday Party at Cibo Restaurant

The program hosts an annual holiday party in December for all residents to celebrate the holiday season.
End of the Year Banquet at Schwab Center
End-of-Year Banquet
- The End of the Year Banquet is a celebration to honor our graduating residents, as well as the time for presentation of awards voted by the house staff.
- All residents are invited to attend as well as families of graduating senior residents.
BBQ at Welch Road
Picnics, BBQs, and Happy Hours
Throughout the year, residents and their families organize a multitude or picnics, BBQs, and happy hours to enjoy the beautiful weather.
Committee on Residency Reform (CRR)
- CRR meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month.
- CRR provides a forum for residents to discuss any aspects of the residency program and to propose/evaluate possible changes to the residency program structure.
- All residents are welcome to attend, and attendance includes nominated class representatives, chief residents, and program directors.
Maintaining residents' wellness and camaraderie is important to Stanford.
Physician Support
The hospital-wide wellness program provides a peer support system to residents who have experienced difficult cases and to promote wellness and camaraderie.
