Paper from Contag Lab one of the most often cited papers in engineeringDecember 9, 2003Thomson ISI Essential Science Indicators has selected a paper from the Contag Lab as one of the most often cited papers in engineering. ISI Essential Science Indicators from ISI lists highly cited papers in 22 broad fields of science. These papers comprise the top 1% of papers in each field and each year. The paper by Contag and Bachmann entitled, "Advances in vivo bioluminescence imaging of gene expression" published in ANNU REV BIOMED ENG (Vol 4; Pages: 235-260) was selected in the field of Engineering. Dr. Sanjiv Sam Gambhir receives the Holst MedalNovember 20, 2003Dr. Sanjiv Sam Gambhir, Director of the MIPS, was selected to receive the 2003 Holst Medal at a symposium on molecular imaging, organized by Philips Research, Philips Medical Systems and Technical University at Eindhoven in the Netherlands. In addition, he received a medal designed by Dutch sculptor Jos Reniers for this year's 25th anniversary of the Holst lecture. The annual award recognizes Dr. Gambhir's many outstanding contributions including innovative uses of imaging approaches to gene therapy. Gilles Holst, the award's namesake, was the first director of Philips Research Laboratories and one of the founders of the Dutch university. Congratulations, Dr. Gambhir! More information |

Christophe Deroose receives the Young Scientist Award for Best Abstract at Intl AMI ConferenceOctober 3, 2003Congratulations to Christophe Deroose of the Multimodality Molecular Imaging lab for winning this years Young Scientist Award for Best Abstract at the IMI/Hi-Res Meeting that took place at the International AMI conference in Madrid, Spain. His abstract entitled "Small Animal microPET/microCAT Imaging Studies of a Tumor Metastatic Model" discusses multimodality PET-CT imaging of xenografts and metastatic melanoma lesions in mice. The tumors are imaged using FDG as well as a reporter gene strategy. Congratulations Christophe! |

Shahriar Yaghoubi receives RSNA Research & Education AwardAugust 5, 2003Congratulations to Shahriar Yaghoubi of the Multimodality Molecular Imaging Lab for receiving RSNA's Research Fellowship in Basic Radiological Sciences. The fellowship will help support his post doctoral research on using microPET for imaging cell trafficking in adoptive immune cell gene therapy of rheumatoid arthritis. This research will be done in conjunction with Dr. Fathman's Laboratory. Congratulations Shahriar! |
